Dr. Timothy Francis Leary

Timothy Leary was born in Springfeild Mass. and had a very average childhood with a teacher Mother and Dentist Father. In the 1940's Leary attended West Point Academy where he studied philosophy and countinously acted out. After being asked to leave the academy Leary went on to get his degree in psychology and fight in WWII. Following the War Leary taught psychology in the University of California (Berkley) and after his wife's crushing suicide he moved to Harvard. After being introduced to the effects of "Magic Mushrooms" during a scientific trial on Latin American healing techniques Leary immediatly began the Harvard Psilocybin Project. Later Leary was introduced to LSD and was quoted in saying it was "the most shattering experience of his life" and also "I learned more in fifteen minutes than I had previously in my entire life". After going public with his findings and attracting the huge counter culture movement to his feet Leary handed out thousands of doses of LSD and preached his philosophy to millions with his tag line of Turn on Tune in and Drop out. Leary was friends with many famous people of the day including John Lennon. Nixon went so far as to call Leary the most dangerous man in America. Leary was an astounding man who inspired a generation to call for peace and internal examination and also denounced the government supported mis-information of the public about the dangers of drugs.
